π¦ HARPIA — Virtual Tabletop RPG
Create worlds, gather your players, and bring your adventures to life.
HARPIA is a virtual tabletop RPG platform (VTT — Virtual Tabletop) designed to allow Game Masters and players to share adventures in an interactive digital environment.
The project aims to provide creative freedom, organizational tools, and visual features to transform a traditional tabletop RPG session into a space for exploration, strategy, roleplaying, and storytelling.
With tools for maps, characters, combat, lighting, vision, dice, and cards, HARPIA is designed to support different campaign styles, from traditional fantasy adventures to original settings and custom RPG systems.
HARPIA is available for free in its 1.0 Beta version, directly through your web browser.
π Available Languages
HARPIA was originally developed in Portuguese (Brazil), but it also supports English and Japanese.
Players can select their preferred language directly through the platform's interface.
Currently supported languages:
- π§π· Portuguese (Brazil) — Original language.
- πΊπΈ English — Available through the language settings.
- π―π΅ Japanese (ζ₯ζ¬θͺ) — Available through the language settings.
The language can be changed from the main menu or through the settings menu inside a game room.
When switching languages, the page automatically reloads to apply the selected translation consistently throughout the interface.
Some translation improvements may still be introduced during the Beta development phase.
π² Features and Functionalities
πΊοΈ Game Rooms, Maps, and Environments

The Game Master can import images to use as maps, organize scenes, and position elements on the tabletop.

- Adjustable grid size, position, rotation, and transparency.
- Token movement with optional grid snapping.
- Ruler and distance measurement tools.
- Difficult terrain areas.
- Layer-based element organization.
- Drawing and text tools.
The goal is to allow every Game Master to create environments suited to their adventures without being restricted to a specific RPG system.
βοΈ Tokens and Characters
HARPIA provides tools to import, customize, and control tokens representing characters, creatures, objects, and other tabletop elements.
Each token can have individual settings, including:
- Custom names and images.
- Adjustable size and position.
- Rotation, mirroring, and transparency.
- Configurable border colors and thickness.
- Colored markers.
- Auras with adjustable size, color, and intensity.
- Up to 5 resource bars, such as Health, Mana, Energy, or other custom values.
- Up to 3 independent counters.
- Elevation settings to represent different heights.
Players can also import and configure their own tokens.
Once approved by the Game Master, players receive permission to move and edit authorized tokens, while other elements remain protected against unauthorized changes.
The Game Master retains administrative control and can grant or revoke permissions.
π₯ Lighting, Vision, and Exploration
HARPIA includes tools for creating environments with different lighting and visibility conditions.
Game Masters can place light sources, adjust their properties, and configure elements that block vision, lighting, and movement.
Available features include:
- Customizable light sources.
- Adjustable light intensity, range, and color.
- Lighting effects for candles, torches, lanterns, and magical sources.
- Darkness areas.
- Walls, doors, and windows.
- Fog of War tools.
- Token vision settings.
- Vision modes such as normal vision, darkvision, tremorsense, truesight, and other special vision types.
These tools help create dark caves, mysterious ruins, dungeons, forests, and other environments where exploration plays an important role in the story.
Some individual vision and Fog of War features are still being refined during the Beta phase.
π² Virtual Dice and Rolls
HARPIA provides integrated tools for rolling dice directly within the platform.
Several dice types are available, including:
d2, d4, d6, d8, d9, d10, d12, d20, d24, d30, and d100.
Players can also use dice formulas, combine multiple dice, and apply modifiers.
Results can be shared in the game room chat, allowing participants to follow each roll.
π Playing Cards and Tarot
In addition to traditional dice, HARPIA includes tools for using cards during gameplay.
The platform offers:
- Traditional 52-card deck.
- 54-card deck including Jokers.
- Complete 78-card Tarot deck.
- Major and Minor Arcana.
- Card shuffling and drawing.
- Card sharing through the chat.
- Cards as visual elements on the tabletop.
These tools can be used for roleplaying, divination, random events, card-based RPG systems, or custom mechanics developed by players.
π Game Organization and Session Management
To assist Game Masters and players, the platform includes tools for organizing and managing game sessions.
Available features include:
- Configurable initiative tracker.
- Turn controls and counters.
- Text communication through chat.
- Dice roll history.
- Note-taking tools.
- Campaign information and record management.
HARPIA also supports local data saving and game room backup files, helping preserve progress and recover important information.
π Private P2P Multiplayer
HARPIA uses Peer-to-Peer (P2P) communication through WebRTC technology.
This approach allows private connections between the Game Master and participants without requiring accounts or external servers to store game sessions.
The platform supports three participation roles:
β Game Master: Manages scenes, maps, tools, permissions, and other session elements.
βοΈ Player: Participates in the adventure and controls tokens authorized by the Game Master.
β Spectator: Watches the session without modifying game elements, receiving the view made available by the host.
Connections require an initial exchange of connection codes, and player access is subject to Game Master approval.
Important: Since the current version does not use external STUN/TURN servers, connections between different networks may be limited. Compatible networks, preferably the same local network, are recommended.
The Game Master's computer must remain connected during multiplayer sessions.
π οΈ System-Independent Platform
HARPIA was not developed exclusively for a single tabletop RPG system.
Its purpose is to provide a flexible collection of tools that allows each group to establish its own rules, character sheets, mechanics, combat systems, and exploration methods.
Whether you are running a traditional campaign or an entirely original universe, HARPIA aims to provide a flexible digital environment for creativity and storytelling.
π§ͺ HARPIA 1.0 Beta
This is the project's first public testing version.
Although many features are already available, HARPIA remains under active development.
Future updates may include performance improvements, bug fixes, interface adjustments, translation improvements, and additional features.
Community feedback will play an important role in guiding future development.
